Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Whilst soils are major emitters of all greenhouse gases, there is significant evidence that under aerobic conditions, soils will consume methane from the atmosphere. A basic understanding of the methane cycle is required across a wide range of soils to develop a clear picture of the mitigation capacity of Australian soils. The student will work with a large research group monitoring greenhouse gas emissions from a wide variety of soils across Australia using advance field and laboratory techniques.
