Overview

The video games industry was worth $11.7 Billion in 2008 in the USA alone and over 40% of game players are women. Despite the obvious interest of women in playing games, only about 5% of game students and developers are women. This year at QUT, we ran a series of events aimed at bringing together women and girls interested in games and the games industry. Throughout these events we gathered feedback on what issues and barriers exist for women andgirls entering the games industry and what steps we can take to encourage more women into the industry. This project involves analysing this data and reviewing relevant literature in the area.
