Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.
- Facies analysis, depositional environments, basin analysis: Facies analysis, interpretation of depositional environment, provenance analysis, and reservoir characterisation applied to CO2 sequestration. Mostly based on drill core, and geophysical data, potentially some field work, Denison Trough.
- Coal geology/exploration: Numerous potential projects related to new drilling program being undertaken by Rio Tinto in northern Bowen Basin. Main project will involve significant geological field mapping.
- Applied geoscience, environmental analysis, medical geology: Documentation of associations of soil and geology and other environmental parameters with disease distribution in north Queensland: integrating field data in a GIS framework.
