Overview
Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.
This project will generate robust fault tolerant train schedules/timetables to achieve significant improvements in rail operating efficiency. New and more accurate analytical measures for the cost of delay and train timetable robustness will be developed. Deterministic scheduling, stochastic scheduling and fuzzy logic will need to be linked in order to build an advanced robust train scheduling system. A proactive scheduling methodology and a sensitivity analysis will also be proposed and further developed to achieve the primary objective. Benefits include reduced train delays, rescheduling effort and costs. Significant gains in the cost-effectiveness of operations in industry will be achieved.
