Overview
GameFlow is a model for evaluating enjoyment in games that consists of eight elements – concentration, challenge, skills, control, clear goals, feedback, immersion, and social interaction. Each element includes a set of criteria for achieving enjoyment in games. The GameFlow model, though still in its infancy, has been proven as a useful and promising tool for conducting expert reviews and identifying design issues. The GameFlow model has undergone preliminary validation as a tool for examining real-time strategy games. However, there is much scope to further apply the GameFlow model to games across all platforms and genres, to further understand player enjoyment in various game types.
