The aim of this project is to determine a more efficient and effective resource allocation and response model of service delivery. Review of research both nationally and internationally to identify best practice roster design principles. Development of demand profiles based on response date for every ambulance station in Queensland and using these profiles to formulate an innovative approach for rostering. Firstly describes the characteristics of the search space for such a problem and reports on the success to date of an evolutionary algorithm approach in finding an acceptable solution to the problem.
