Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Modern society is increasingly reliant on chemical processes to make the drugs, paints and plastics it consumes. But existing chemical manufacturing technologies are resource intensive and can have a detrimental impact on the environment. Through this proposal, new functional materials with superior catalytic and adsorption properties, will be designed and developed. These catalysts possess abundant active sites and porous channels that are sufficiently exposed and more accessible to reactants. Thus, these materials will allow new 'greener' chemical manufacturing processes to be developed that require less resources and will have minimal impact on the environment.
