Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.
In building industry there is a pressing need to improve productivity in construction. Currently the average cost of infrastructure and building projects is estimated to be around 30% more expensive as a result of inefficient processes. This project will start from an investigation of the current construction production management practices which are predominantly manual and founded on the manager's experience, and are dictated by the prevalent standard form contracts. Based on that, reference model of a typical construction production management process will be developed. The process model will capture the as-is workflow and find integration with the emerging building information model (BIM) as a standard data source.
Requirements: Essential knowledge and skills in business process modelling and conceptual data modelling.
