Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

Cartilage is an avascular tissue with very limited repair capacity. The prevalence of cartilage decay or injury has made osteoarthritis one of the leading causes of pain and immobility in the general population. Our lab is working on two parallel tissue engineering strategies to repair damaged cartilage. One strategy is the development of more efficient mesenchymal to chondrocyte differentiation processes, while the other is the development of novel bioreactor systems that facilitate cartilage tissue generation in vitro.

This project needs your help! We require talented, energetic and innovative students with engineering/biology capabilities to aid in the further development of these bioreactor systems. We are looking for students that can commit to either a PhD or at least one year research to this project.
