Overview
Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.
Bioinformatics is the application of computational methods to problems involving data from the life sciences, a good example being the search for unusual patterns in DNA sequences. We offer projects in a variety of forms to suit students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degrees. In addition, selected research topics are suitable for Honours, Masters by Research or PhD programmes. If you would like to do a project on a topic in our research area but none of the specific projects listed grabs you, we welcome original proposals. However, for practical reasons we are only able to supervise projects that fit reasonably well with our research agenda. If in doubt, contact us anyway. The main project areas are:
- Machine Learning for Genomics and Proteomics
- SQL Server Extensions for Bioinformatics
- Visual Analysis Tools for Bioinformatics
A number of projects are available in each area. Please also view the student projects available in bioinformatics in our MQUTeR Centre.
