Modern risk analyses may depend on the subjective assessment of components of complex probability models for the estimation of the probability of adverse events. This project will use simulation studies to assess the performance of recent import risk assessment methodologies, to identify weaknesses and failings under realistic scenarios, and to suggest modifications to overcome any weaknesses identified. Import risk assessments are conducted by Biosecurity Australia to assess the risk from pests and diseases of importing agricultural commodities.
