Overview

Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.

This project aims to explore the performance of Australian public secondary schools using econometric frontier modelling. Given fixed resources, such as Government funding, number of teaching staff, etc., we seek to identify how efficient schools are in using these fixed resources to maximise their "output" (typically a measure of student performance). Stochastic frontier modelling is a method that provides relative efficiency measures, and can potentially aide in identifying, for those schools not operating at maximum efficiency, where economic efficiency can be improved.
