Overview
Topic status: We're looking for students to study this topic.
In the last two years a great deal of progress has been made in developing analytical solutions describing nonlinear reaction and diffusion in a porous slab (Magyari, Chem Eng J, 143, 2008; Abbasbandy, Chem Eng J, 136, 2008). In particular, Magyari (2008) describes the solution of a nonlinear reaction-diffusion problem in terms of Gauss' hypergeometric function. Unfortunately, this solution does not include the effects of advective transport. In this project we will incorporate advective transport into the problem and obtain analytical or semi-analytical solutions to the boundary value problem. This project involves symbolic manipulation and analysis.
