Overview

Calculation of aggregated QoS values of a composite web service is an important operation in web service composition. It is used in every web service composition tool to evaluate the aggregated QoS values of a new web service selection plan when exploring a new and better solution. All existing methods calculate aggregated QoS values from scratch, and hardly reuse the information that was generated previously. This project aims to propose a new method for calculating QoS values. Different from the existing methods, this new method will make use of information that was generated previous to make the calculation for efficient. The proposed method will be implemented in an object oriented programming language, such as C++ or C#, such that it can be immediately used in web service tools to improve their computational efficiency.

Research Activities

The research activities involve:

  • developing a more efficient scheme for calculating aggregated QoS values
  • implementing the new scheme in an object oriented programming language, such as C++ or C#.

Expected Outcomes

The expected outcomes are:

  • a new and more efficient scheme for calculating aggregated QoS values
  • a useable class library for calculating aggregated QoS values, which can be used in web service composition.
