The discipline comprises four major programs:
  • Tissue Repair and Regeneration
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Hormone Dependent Cancer Research
  • Applied Microbiology

Much of the discipline's research around Tissue Repair & Regeneration, Infectious Diseases and Hormone Dependent Cancer is carried out within the Institute for Health & Biomedical Innovation. Other discipline staff work within the Australian Prostate Cancer Research Centre - Queensland (APCRC-Q) which employs a transdisciplinery approach to prostate cancer research.
