5th April 2017

Former Rio Tinto CEO Sam Walsh AO is the next guest speaker at the QUT Business Leaders’ Forum on Wednesday, 24 May at the Hilton Brisbane.

Mr Walsh had a 25-year career with Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest minerals and mining corporations, and was CEO from 2013 to 2016. Prior to this he spent 20 years in senior leadership roles with General Motors and Nissan Australia.

He steered Rio Tinto through an industry downturn and positioned the company for growth with a reputation for “getting things done”.

He was a member of the B20 Australian Leadership Group and co-chair of the Australia India CEO Forum, and received an Order of Australia in 2010.

Mr Walsh will speak about his career journey, his own “leadership metamorphosis” as RioTinto CEO, and the leadership required to drive sustainable change and create a sense of energy and purpose in organisations.

One of Australia’s leading journalists, Kerry O’Brien, will moderate the forum.

QUT Business Leaders’ Forum tickets are on sale now.
