This scholarship provides financial assistance to first-year law students experiencing economic or personal hardship, allowing them an opportunity to reach their full potential.
Recipients also benefit from a mentorship program, pairing them with experienced legal professionals who offer guidance, share insights from their own careers and provide career development advice. This relationship fosters both personal and professional growth, helping students build confidence, networks and a strong foundation for their future in law.
Worth $12,000 paid in semester instalments over 4 years, this scholarship is designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds and give them the support needed to pursue a career in law.

Ashurst and the Department of Transport and Main Roads Indigenous Australian Law Scholarship

Internship opportunities
This scholarship is designed to support Indigenous Australian law students with study and living expenses such as textbooks, technology, and rent, in order to help them thrive in their studies and reach their full potential.
Recipients may also have the opportunity to complete a paid 6-week internship with Ashurst and the Department of Transport and Main Roads. This hands-on experience offers valuable exposure to both private and public sector legal environments, helping students build professional networks and gain practical skills to complement their academic journey.

Ashurst Outpacing Change Scholarship

This scholarship recognises a current law student who exemplifies exceptional resilience, adaptability, and forward-thinking leadership in the face of adversity.
This scholarship is designed for individuals who:
- intend to pursue a career in law upon graduation
- have overcome personal, social, or economic challenges
- Demonstrate leadership qualities or actively participate in extracurricular activities.
Through academic excellence, community engagement, or innovative initiatives, the recipient has shown a rare combination of strength, vision, and determination. More than just navigating change, they have embraced it—outpacing change with strength and grace.
