Mock trial

We have a range of mock trials to choose from, based on fairy tales including Jack and the Beanstalk, Hansel and Gretel and Alice in Wonderland.

Students play the parts of:

  • judges
  • members of the press
  • the bailiff
  • the jury.

The mock trial is an interactive program that enables students to:

  • question witnesses
  • answer questions about court procedures
  • view an interactive crime scene map.

Students will learn about:

  • court procedures
  • legal terminology
  • sections of the Queensland Criminal Code.

Criminology and intelligence training

Students work in teams to solve a fake crime that occurred the previous evening. Our 'junior detectives' will:

  • analyse evidence
  • identify potential suspects
  • develop a line of questioning which they will use to catch the criminal.

Students will:

  • think about questions to ask witnesses
  • learn about reading body language
  • have the opportunity to use leading technology such as Analyst Notebook software.

Clayton Utz Law Library tour

Students will:

  • learn about the workings of a university library
  • gain QUT student access to online information.
