Become a sessional academic

To be employed as a sessional academic staff member in the School of Law, you need to be approved to join the School of Law sessional academic staff pool.

About our staff pool

Being part of the approved pool means that you are available for sessional work, but does not mean that you are automatically employed.

Unit Coordinators consult this pool when filling any vacancies for sessional staff positions in their teaching teams each semester.

How to apply

To join the staff pool, you should at least hold an LLB (Hons), or equivalent, and have relevant professional experience or a higher degree.

You must submit:

  • an application form
  • your CV
  • certified copies of academic records
  • at least one written reference.

To assist in the completion of your application form, please refer to the list of units offered by the Law School. Leave the Calendar option as ‘Any’, change Discipline to ‘Law’ and change Unit Code to ‘LW…’.

What happens next

We will review your application for suitability, and depending on current teaching requirements, an interview will be arranged. Interviews will generally occur in late April and November. You will receive written advice as to the outcome of your application.

Should any teaching positions become available in your areas of interest and expertise, you will be contacted prior to the commencement of the semester.
