Climate, food and transport
Climate
Brisbane has a subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters. Temperatures average from a high of 30 degrees celsius in the middle of summer to a low of 10 degrees celsius in winter. The rainy season is from December-April.
Food
Supermarkets in Brisbane will have spices, vegetables, and other ingredients that you need to cook your own meals. Many supermarkets also sell Halal meat.
Supermarkets are open 7 days a week. There are also farmers' markets on weekends to buy local produce.
If you want to eat at a restaurant, there are hundreds of restaurants in Brisbane. Food is diverse and generally not expensive.
Transport
Getting to university
Public transport
You can travel to and from our campuses using buses, trains, and taxis.
Ferries or the CityCat will also take you to Gardens Point campus.
All public transport in Southeast Queensland is run by Translink. They have detailed information on public transport, timetables and fares, and a journey planner.
If you're a full-time student with an ID card, you'll get a cheaper fare.
Driving
All campuses have a range of parking options available.
Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove car parks are limited and expensive.
Caboolture has plentiful and free car parking on campus.

Biking
We provide dedicated bikeways, secure campus bike racks and showers for cyclists.
International students arriving in Brisbane
If you're travelling from overseas to study with us, we offer a 24-hour airport reception service for new international students. We'll pick you up and help you get settled in Brisbane.
