Entry requirements

To apply for the Study Abroad program, you must:

  • have completed at least 1 year of full-time study at a recognised university
  • have a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 2.5 on a 4 point scale, or equivalent
  • meet our English language proficiency requirements if English is not your first language.

English language proficiency requirements

We accept scores from:

  • TOEFL (Internet based)
  • IELTS (Academic)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)
  • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).

IELTS

You must have:

  • an overall band score of 6.5
  • no sub-score below 6.0.

TOEFL

You must have:

  • an overall score of 90
  • no sub-score below 20.

Cambridge ESOL exams

For courses requiring an IELTS of 6.5, with no subscore below 6, you must achieve:

  • CPE with a grade of C
  • CAE with a grade of A.

Do I have to provide an English language test result?

You may not have to provide a proficiency test result if:

  • your high school or tertiary studies were conducted entirely in English and you achieved a passing grade
  • you can provide other language proficiency results which will be assessed by the Study Abroad and Exchange Office

Don't meet our English language proficiency requirements?

If you meet the academic entry requirements, but do not meet the English requirements, you may still be able to participate in Study Abroad by completing a bridging course at QUT International College.
