About the school
The school was established in 1978 and is the oldest and largest centre for tertiary nursing education in Queensland. Our courses are internationally recognised for their quality and focus on practice, with our long-term collaborations with healthcare agencies and professional organisations providing our students with unparalleled practical experience.
Flexible courses
We offer flexible study options, with a number of our undergraduate courses available at different campuses both full-time and part-time. Most of our postgraduate courses are available via flexible study modes, allowing students to study at their own pace and around other commitments.
Multiple campuses
Choose to study at both Kelvin Grove and Caboolture campuses. Caboolture hosts a purpose-built nursing facility featuring two hospital wards, a laboratory for developing clinical skills, and specialised monitoring facilities. Kelvin Grove offers the Clinical Simulation Centre, QUT Health Clinics, and the Institute for Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI).
Tailored professional education
We offer customised education programs to health-related organisation and their staff. Most of these have a flexible delivery so our students can study at their own pace and location, including internationally.

Our strong links with universities and health organisation in Australia and abroad give our domestic students valuable opportunities to explore international study and work experience. We welcome international students from China, India, United Kingdom, Norway, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Collaborative research
We have an excellent record in funded research, publications, and higher degree completion. We work with major centres to enable research to improve outcomes of care for patients and their families, including the Centre for Palliative Care Research and Education, Dementia Collaborative Research Centre: Carers and Consumers, Wound Management Innovation Cooperative Research Centre, and the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI).
