About the school

We are a new school that encompasses two core discipline areas in health – human movement studies and nutrition and dietetics.

Our courses

Our courses offer real world placement opportunities and provide graduates with experience and skills for careers in a wide range of challenging occupations. Our courses are recognised by the relevant accreditation bodies and students can complete studies in:

• Clinical exercise physiology
• Exercise and movement science
• Nutrition
• Nutrition and dietetics.

Students in our undergraduate programs have access to state-of-the-art facilities at our Kelvin Grove campus and gain experience through practical placements in the QUT Health Clinics and external community settings.

Our staff

Our staff are industry professionals and many contribute to peak professional associations including the Dietitians Association of Australia and Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Our teaching staff are also leading researchers and are actively involved in projects that address contemporary global health challenges and achieve better health and wellbeing for global communities.

Our research

We encourage multidisciplinary research activity in both pure and applied research. Our researchers are supported in their endeavours through their memberships within the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation. In 2011, we received an ‘above world standard’ rating in the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rankings for our research in human movement studies.

Our community

As well as the academic pursuits of research and teaching, we have partnerships with professional groups and communities. These relationships between our students, academics and communities allow for the knowledge of exercise and nutrition science to be shared for the benefit of the community.
