Schools, childcare centres and kindergartens
Kelvin Grove Teacher Education Centre of Excellence
The Kelvin Grove Teacher Education Centre of Excellence is a result of a strong partnership between QUT and the Kelvin Grove State College. The program has been designed to provide high quality field experience for pre-service teachers and teachers undertaking professional development.
Centres of excellence are expected to:
- provide ongoing mentoring support and professional development
- promote and demonstrate quality teaching
- work with other schools to improve student learning outcomes.
Host field experience and internship students
Each year, our pre-service teaching students complete around 5000 field experience placements and internships at childcare centres, kindergartens, preschools, primary schools, and high schools in Queensland, interstate and overseas.
These placements give supervising teachers the opportunity to share their knowledge and contribute to the development of the profession.
We also offer professional development opportunities to sites that participate in our Field Studies and Internship programs.
If your school would like to host field experience and internship students, contact our Field Experience Office.

Mentor graduate teachers
The Mentoring for Effective Teaching (MET) program aims to enhance the quality of graduate teachers through positive mentoring by mentor teachers.
You can become a mentor or qualify to become a MET facilitator and deliver the MET professional development program to teachers in their schools.
Mentoring for Effective Teaching is run as part of the Teacher Education Done Differently (TEDD) project.
