The 2012 Faculty of Education Star Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 12 December.

The awards not only recognise high levels of performance and achievement in particular areas of study, but also support students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, and those teaching in rural and remote settings and resource sector communities.

Professor Wendy Patton, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education, said the annual Star Awards provide an opportunity to recognise the success of our students.

"The Star Awards celebrate the achievements of our future leaders by recognising extraordinary success in their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. It is also an opportunity to recognise our valued sponsors whose support makes these awards possible," she said.

A total of 15 awards were presented to 35 Faculty of Education students. Awards included the University Medal, awarded to a graduand who has achieved an exceptionally high level of performance in their studies.

Professor Patton congratulated award recipients.

"On behalf of staff in the Faculty of Education, I'd like to congratulate our award recipients and wish them all the best for their future endeavours," she said.
