Research success

Our research in communication and media studies (ERA code 20) has earned a ranking of well above world standard (top ranking of 5) in the 2010 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative results. QUT is one of two universities in Australia, and the only university in Queensland, to receive a top ranking of 5 in this research area.

We achieved a world standing of 3 for studies in creative arts and writing (ERA code 19).

In addition, our emphasis on practice-led research has resulted in national and international recognition for the faculty.

Our research students are supported by a variety of services, which may include:

  • desk and computer for full-time students, including laptops and specialist computing programs where applicable
  • short-term laptop loan
  • photocopying, limited stationery items, telephone and fax for project-related activities
  • computing labs and student rooms
  • project support funding
  • annual student conference
  • access to travel funds.
