School of Media, Entertainment and Creative Arts

Creativity is a key economic driver in the 21st century, and the creative industries and creative arts are among the most dynamic and exciting sectors of the global economy.

At QUT Creative Industries, you will have the opportunity to engage with our diverse and dynamic community of teachers, learners, researchers, practitioners and artists.

You will be encouraged to work and play across a variety of forms and across a diverse range of media including:

  • words
  • screens
  • bodies
  • devices
  • materials
  • performances
  • new technologies.

Our creative arts community is passionate about new ideas, engaging in innovative creative practice, and working with like-minded people on exciting new projects.

Our mission is to prepare the next generation of creative workers to succeed in the continuously evolving global and digital environments.

By collaborating, innovating and celebrating, our student artists, performers and event managers unite ideas, imagination and poetics into finely articulated concepts presented through contemporary:

  • dance
  • drama
  • sound
  • video
  • visual art forms.

Our media and communications research is internationally renowned and provides leadership in research across global communications, infrastructure, strategy and policy, along with up-to-date evaluations of how consumers and audiences respond and engage interactively in the technological age.

We are passionate about the future of production, distribution and consumption of creative content, with a particular focus on digital media and cultural systems.

Our postgraduate students acquire the skills to develop into creative and strategic leaders who are capable of operating in management and leadership roles within and beyond the creative industries.

Commercial awareness is at the heart of new creative business sustainability models. Our double degrees can help you develop the entrepreneurial acumen required to build your own creative careers in competitive and evolving business environments.

For the first time in 2012 we are offering the new Entertainment Industries degree at QUT Creative Industries. We have collaborated with key industry partners to ensure our teaching and research fully equips graduates with the knowledge, skills and networks to launch their producer careers and to connect with mass audience engagement in highly practical and entrepreneurial ways.

We invite you to join us on your own journey of discovery and to meet like-minded artists, researchers and practitioners who will work hard to help you achieve your professional and creative goals.

If you are considering undertaking a degree, a short course, or engaging with our researchers in commercial and consultancy projects, I warmly encourage you to make contact with us to discuss your ideas and ambitions further.

We look forward to working with you soon.
