About the school
For many years, the staff of Economics and Finance have developed and maintained strong working relationships with industry, relevant professional organisations and government. It is through these links that we are renowned for our comprehensive delivery of quality educational programs and research in the finance and economics disciplines. We are proud to be home to a number of academics who are world-class scholars in their areas of research.
Our graduates find exciting, rewarding positions in prominent private sector companies and major public sector policy agencies, and with the growing internationalisation of Australia's economy, increasingly secure positions overseas.
Research
We have a proud and robust research portfolio. In 2011, QUT was ranked first in Queensland and third in Australia for Applied Economics by the Government's Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) exercise - a national initiative that assesses research quality within Australia's 41 eligible higher education institutions. Furthermore, across all branches of economics, we received a world-class ranking.
