The Ideal Tax Treatment of Donations

18 April 2011

The Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies are delighted to invite you to Elly Mariani's seminar,The Ideal Tax Treatment of Donations.

As in Australia, the Dutch government is planning to review and redesign nonprofit regulation. The Dutch government has committed itself politically to introducing a Gift Act. The possible contents of that Act have not yet been specified. It could contain a redefinition of qualifying organisations, the introduction of formal regulation of nonprofit organisations and changes in the tax incentives. The new Act is not only a threat but also a chance; it provides us with a blank canvas to improve current regulation, which was exactly the theme of this workshop. Given the very generous incentive Dutch donors can receive, what changes would be feasible and desirable?
