Mentor a student
Would you like to help our students get a practical start to understanding the workplace?
The QUT Career Mentor Scheme (an initiative of the QUT alumni) introduces alumni and industry professionals to current students for mentorship, offering:
- support
- industry perspective
- encouragement.
Mentorship does not include a guarantee of employment.
Typical activities include:
- 'shadowing' the mentor at work
- observing workplace or professional meetings
- participating in work activities
- arranging an activity with another professional or organisational member
- discussing contemporary issues over lunch or coffee
- sounding the student's assessment solutions against your practical knowledge.
How much time will it take?
As a general guide, mentors and students make contact for approximately one hour each fortnight.
