Transport

The University provides free buses (391) between Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses to assist students and staff attending lectures or engaging in university business.

Passenger usage is expected to total 600,000 passengers by the end of 2010. This indicates a 20% increase in usage from 2009.

Evening bus

A night shuttle bus service operates at Kelvin Grove and Gardens Point campuses during the first and second semester teaching weeks.

Cycling

In support of staff and students using cycling as an alternative to motorised transport, QUT provides secure bicycle parking, storage, showers, and end-of-trip facilities. Cycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions, transport costs and congestion at peak times on the roads, while also providing an excellent form of physical activity.

Electric Bikes

Kelvin Grove Security staff are patrolling on the latest rechargeable electric bicycles. Powered by lithium ion technology (the same as mobile phone batteries) the bikes are inexpensive while allowing greater flexibility and pace.
