QUT warmly congratulates Tim Fairfax, the University's Chancellor, on his Australia Day Honours award as a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), Professor Susan Street on her award as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) and QUT Council member Dr Lee-Anne Perry on her award as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).

Mr Fairfax, who has led QUT's governing body since 2012, is a leading advocate for philanthropy and the arts in Australia and a highly regarded figure in the business community for his pastoral, transport and communications enterprises.

A keen supporter of the arts, Mr Fairfax is a founding benefactor and former chair of the National Portrait Gallery, president of the Queensland Art Gallery Foundation, a member of the National Gallery of Australia and an honorary councillor of the Australian Business Arts Foundation.

Mr Fairfax is a member of the Philanthropy Australia board, chair of the Salvation Army Brisbane Advisory Board, the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.

His advocacy for the rural sector is reflected in such roles as councillor of the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland and chair of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal's Repair-Restore-Renew Advisory Committee and a member of its Finance and Audit Committee.

Professor Street is well-recognised nationally for her leadership in the performing arts and as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Queensland Art Gallery.

Professor Street has contributed greatly to QUT in senior leadership roles. She is currently Executive Director of QUT Precincts, QUT's arts and public venues, and was formerly Executive Dean of the Creative Industries Faculty and head of Dance for ten years.

Dr Lee-Anne Perry is a senior member of the QUT Council and is Principal of All Hallows' School. Dr Perry's award has been conferred for her significant service to secondary education as a principal, to curriculum development, and to professional educational associations.
