Jazz flute the winner of Triple J O week challenge

07 March 2013

QUT was awash with the sultry sound of jazz flute today thanks to an "educational" lecture of a different variety.

Triple J Breakfast's Alex Dyson and Tom Ballard visited the Science and Engineering Centre's Kindler Theatre to talk about the history and the merits of the jazz flute.

"Professor" Dyson was joined at the lectern by QUT PhD student Richard Grantham, on jazz flute, and Brisbane-based rock group Hungary Kids of Hungary.

The guest lecture was part of the radio team's national O Week Crawl.

The obscure topic was chosen by a Triple J listener after Alex lost the O Week scavenger hunt.
