Danielle McCarthy receives an award at the law prize ceremony
Danielle's perfect score
Danielle McCarthy is QUT's first law student to graduate with perfect grades.
Studying a double degree, Danielle not only achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 7 in the Bachelor of Laws but also in the Bachelor of Business (Accountancy).
Danielle admitted her top marks were a 'lot of hard work'.
"I started the degree with an open mind," Danielle said.
"Initially it was challenging and from there I just tried to do the best I could.
"I planned out my commitments with university and work so I could manage everything."
From her third year at university, Danielle worked in QUT's business faculty as a research assistant in accountancy - a role which she says was flexible around her studies.
She was also a Student Ambassador from 2007-10, promoting the university to prospective students.
"I really do enjoy law and accountancy. It provides a balance between different areas that I'm interested in.
"I've had friends since first year in law and we've always helped each other out and have been supportive of each other.
Danielle lived at home with her parents at Warner during her studies.
"My family has always been supportive. They've copped all the stress!"
Danielle will begin a graduate position at top tier law firm Freehills in February. She hopes to work in corporate law and officially graduates on December 13.
