Cute bouncing bears stormed the iTunes appstore charts jumping to 42nd place in the kids' category and 64th in the family category within 36 hours of their release by QUT Bachelor of Games and Interactive Entertainment graduate Kevin Gosschalk, from Ipswich.

The new game app, Bear Bounce, is selling for 99cents for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

Mr Gosschalk developed the game with fellow graduate Tegan Barry, who did the appealing, colourful graphics and it is the expansion of her third-year student project.
"Bear Bounce's leap in the rankings was quite a good day one," 22 year-old Mr Gosschalk said.

"The fact we made the top 1000 out of 400,000 in the app store without any reviews is amazing.

"The concept of the game is quite simple. The players' mission is to help furry animals reach the other side of the river by sliding the raft with a finger.

"It is designed for quick intuitive play and has four levels of difficulty so that as players progress the game expands with new characters and different locations.

"This is the first game we've brought to the market and it has been a great experience for us. I'm sure everyone will love Bear Bounce, an easy to play but challenging game that is guaranteed to offer countless hours of fun!"

Mr Gosschalk has established La Squiggle a games development enterprise based in Brisbane.

"The current plan of La Squiggle is both in-house and contracted mobile development. We're about to launch a funny cartoon comic for the BlackBerry PlayBook, which is currently being reviewed by RIM," he said.
