Want to find out what it’s like to work at a hot young tech company, or the digital arm of one of the world’s biggest accountancy firms … or even Walt Disney World in Florida?

QUT graduates from all faculties will return to uni on July 29 for the annual QUT Open Day to talk about their own course and career experiences.

Around 10,000 students graduate from QUT each year and go on to forge careers in the real world.

Kelvin O’Shea graduated at the end of last year and is already working for Brisbane software company Tanda where he develops digital products that enable businesses to achieve workforce success.

He studied a double degree in information technology and interactive and visual design and will be a guest at the Science and Engineering Faculty’s information tent at the QUT Open Day.

Marketing graduate Isabella Kalaja is also returning to uni and will be at the QUT Business School tent to talk to prospective students about her course and her new job as an analyst with Deloitte Digital.

Isabella Kalaja.

After graduating at the end of 2017, she took a well-earned break and headed to the United States where she spent six months working as a cast member at Orlando’s Walt Disney World.

Isabella and Kelvin both took part in internships while studying at QUT that helped land their current jobs.

QUT’s Leanne Cain said choosing a university course was a big step and QUT staff, current students and graduates would all be available at the open day to help with study choices.

“Anyone attending QUT’s Open Day will walk away with a real understanding of what our university has to offer, in terms of quality teaching, excellent facilities and vibrant student life,” she said.

“Advice from our students and graduates is one of the best sources of information for Year 12s and others considering university – they tell it like it is.”

The Open Day Planner at www.qutopenday.com is also a brilliant way to plan your day and not miss a thing.

All faculties – business, creative industries, education, health, law, and science and engineering – will be represented at the QUT Open Day at Gardens Point Campus from 9am to 3pm on July 29.

The day will include information sessions, tours of the campus and facilities, and giveaways.

A free shuttle bus will also run to Kelvin Grove campus for tours of QUT’s creative industries, health and education facilities.
