It's free, it's fun and it's taking over The Cube at QUT these school holidays.

The 'Physics Observatory' summer holiday program (January 6-15) will be based around the giant two-storey interactive screens at The Cube and include daily free activities ranging from paper planes and ball runs to treasure hunts and short films. The Cube - Physics Observatory

A free Physics Fun Day will also be held on January 7 from 10am to 4pm, with extra activities such as hula hooping with the Vulcana Kids, a live show by 'Science Steve, a 3D space flight simulator game, and physics demonstrations.

The Cube is located at QUT's Gardens Point campus in the Brisbane CBD and is one of the world's largest digital learning and display spaces.

Holiday program and fun day organiser Jacina Leong said the events were aimed at kids aged 3 to 12.

"It will be lots of fun for the whole family, with activities every day from January 6 to 15, from 10am to 4pm," she said.

"Families can come along for as long as they like, but it would be best to allow at least an hour if you want to get around all the activities and check out our giant interactive screens.

"The Cube displays all sorts of science wonders but the current display, Physics Observatory, focuses on the wonders of movement and gravity and is great for kids fascintated by Space and our Solar System.

"Children can touch the screens and experiment and move objects in different gravity levels, depending on which planet they select.

"We have 10 days of fun planned for the summer holiday program at The Cube, and our biggest day will be on January 7 when extra activities like circusQUT Gardens Point campus_The Cube hula hooping and 'Science Steve' shows will be on."
