QUT Learning Potential Fund

The QUT Learning Potential Fund is an investment in the community. It assists students who otherwise may not have the opportunity to attend university or finish their studies.

Our dream is to make a first-class university education available to all, regardless of their social background or financial situation.

Addressing a real need

About 5,000 QUT students face financial hardship each year. Many students have additional family commitments or social or health-related issues, which can make studying at university a challenge.

All students have one thing in common: they have already taken the first step to changing their lives by studying at QUT. Now they need a little extra support to reach their full potential.

The QUT Learning Potential Fund is one of our key strategic fundraising priorities. It provides a permanent, stable source of income for scholarships and bursaries for students in need.

All donations to the Fund are matched up to $500,000 per annum. We are committed to raising $20 million by 2015 to increase the number and value of equity scholarships available.

The impact of your gift

The QUT Learning Potential Fund supports the QUT Equity Scholarships Scheme.

In 2010, 798 students who received financial assistance from the Equity Scholarships Scheme successfully graduated from QUT.

To date, over 10,000 scholarships and bursaries have been awarded to students most in need. In turn, many of these graduates are giving back to the community and the next generation of students.

Our generous donors

Each year we award over 2,500 equity scholarships and bursaries to students most in need.

Significant gifts have established Named QUT Learning Potential Fund Scholarships, which increase the number and value of equity scholarships and bursaries available.

Our named QUT Learning Potential Fund scholarships include:

  • Alex Muir QUT Learning Potential Fund Scholarship
  • Cowled Learning Potential Fund Scholarships
  • Donnachie Scholarship. This scholarship was established through the very generous bequest of Mr Des Donnachie, who wanted to support students studying Information Technology at QUT.
  • Howes Family QUT Learning Potential Fund Scholarships
  • Polly Chen Learning Potential Fund Scholarship
  • QUT Human Resources Department Learning Potential Fund Scholarship
  • Rebecca Brown Learning Potential Fund Scholarship
  • RecruitR QUT Learning Potential Fund Scholarship.
On behalf of our students, we graciously thank all of our generous donors.
