We're a really strong school in research and teaching. And so we've got some people who are engaged in intellectual pursuits around their research, cutting edge research and they're bringing that into the classroom.

One of the really good things about the School of Management is that it's a fairly large school. It's very diverse, not only in terms of it's staff but in terms of its portfolio of units. And that's a really helpful thing for our students because it means that they are given a lot of choices even without going outside of the school to other parts of the QUT Business School or other parts of the university. There's a lot of options they can pick up on, a lot of ways of packaging the program which gives them a unique portfolio to go away with.

One of the main trends of the School of Management in the QUT Business School is the professionalism of staff experience. All staff have a very strong experience in the industry. So they have a very well connected, a very good link to industry so we also tend to teach the students how to apply their current theories and mentals and techniques of their management into the real world situations.
Professor Lisa Bradley
We have a strong mentoring program at QUT and a lot of students in Management and Human Resource Management are part of that mentoring program. And what that program does is link people up with employers. We find a lot of students will get jobs from that kind of process. We also have a work placement activity, so students can get, as part of their degree, can do a unit where they're actually placed in a business and they're assisting that organisation on a particular activity.

I've had an opportunity to work for a number of different organisations including Shell and Boeing and BHP Billiton and now Theiss. With all of those organisations I've had a chance to work in a number of different parts of the world. The experiences and the sort of knowledge that you gain from spending time at QUT and keeping in touch with the Alumni and QUT Business School members enables you to work through those cultural diversities and challenges no matter where it might be.
Professor Lisa Bradley
Our staff are doing research which is going to allow them to make a really good contribution to organisational practical. So we're really working hard to try to improve, how business, how organisations actually out there doing work, how they actually function. At the same time they're bringing that knowledge that they're learning in from that cutting edge research engagement into the classroom.
