Studying PR at QUT was fantastic. One of the reasons I really liked it was, uh, you do a lot of real examples of work, you're not always looking at a textbook. They're constantly getting you to work on real case studies and you do a lot of work for real companies.

Public Relations has been part of our history for the past 25 years, that means we've got excellent industry partnerships and a lot of our graduates are working in fabulous organisations around the world.

I work at the Port of Brisbane Corporation as a corporate relations executive, a job I've been doing for around about 5 years. One day there could be some sort of crisis or emergency happening and you spend the rest of your day dealing with that. Other days it might be where you're doing a lot of writing or meeting with a lot of different people.

All students through their study will be exposed to international aspects, we encourage international case studies in all of our classes, we encourage students to take an international exchange if they can, and we also bring many visiting professors and have our own staff come from many different countries to help students understand the bigger world that they're going to enter.

A career in public Relations could take you from a Government safety campaign to launching a movie, a new movie in Australia, to working on a social media campaign for an organisation.

I studied the internship unit which is an elective they offer in the PR course and I completed that at the Australian Medical Association, Queensland branch. The best thing about that was just that it gave me that confidence to know that I could step out and work for a real company one day.

Public Relations is a really good career choice if you're interested in current affairs and reading the news. If you like writing, listening, and you've got a bit of creative flair.
Michael Attard, QUT
I found the school of Advertising, Marketing and PR - they're very fresh, they're very young. Um, really, really innovative, all your learning environments are up to date. You're learning state of the art things whether it's working with clients, in a school, homes and that, they really help you gain that industry experience.
Amisha Mehta, QUT
We bring the industry into the classroom with you from day one. So it's a great opportunity for you to understand how a Public Relations practitioner would work, how they'd solve problems, the fun that they have in their careers, and take that with you all the way throughout your course.

My job has real variety in it. I can be dealing with half a dozen different things in one day and that really makes it interesting to get out of bed in the morning.
