Marketing's probably the most fulfilling career anybody could have in business. Lots of people would say to you 'Marketing is a wonderful world' and I would totally agree with them.

Associate Professor Robina Xavier

We try to prepare our graduates for the real world as much as possible so we try and make sure they understand what it will be like when they really get out there and do the types of jobs that we're preparing them for.

Josephine Loth - DRUG ARM Australasia

I graduated from QUT in 2003 with a degree in Marketing. From that degree I've gone on to become the National Marketing and Communications Manager with local charity 'Drug-Arm'. I love the variation in my job, and the fact that we can go from writing a marketing plan one day to talking to media the next.

Many of our graduates find positions in local companies but quite a few look in overseas areas as well. And we hear from them all the time how successful they've been in gaining those positions based on their QUT qualification in business.

Gavin Edgley - QUT

As a student here I've had the opportunity to meet with lots of my lecturers, even outside of my tutes and my lectures. There are a lot of the AMPR events and I've got to know them as really friendly people and a few of them I've taken on as mentors. I find they've got a whole heap of experience and I can learn a lot from them.

One of our subjects, called Marketing Management, we not only have a theoretical side to it but we have a practical side and we have a thing called 'Qutopia'. It's an exercise the students get involved with and they actually start their own business and then promote their business to fellow students and staff around the university. And we have two open days, on Saturdays, when people actually come in and buy products and goods from the students.

Maxine Tham - QUT

We have internships and we have work placements here, so that's where we go into the real world. We work for them and then we write reports and reflections about that.

Josephine Loth, DRUG ARM Australasia

One of my most wonderful memories from my time at QUT was the ability to participate in the Career Mentor Scheme. That actually provided me the in for the job I've currently got because I was placed with someone in the marketing field and I was made aware of Drug-Arm, and from there I've got the great position today.

Gavin Edgley - QUT

When I've finished my degree and I want to go overseas or anything like that I really want my degree to hold a lot of weight and I think QUT does that.
