Hi I’m Jocelyn. I studied HR at QUT and now work as a recruitment specialist at IBM.

I wanted a career with longevity. I knew that HR at QUT could do that for me. I also wanted to be able to study something that I was really passionate about. I really enjoyed working with lecturers and tutors who have a wide range of experience in the workplace; it’s also a bonus that the course is accredited with the Australian Human Resource Institute of Australia.

I’m currently working as a recruitment specialist, but I know that a lot of my colleagues have responsibilities in human resource management, human resource advisors and generally lots of other responsibilities in HR that they are able to use their degree with.

I work with such a diverse range of managers and employees every day. I get to work with them in regards to employee training, development, performance and hiring as well. It’s a very rewarding career. I chose QUT because I knew they had a renowned business school. I was so surprised at how easily what I was learning was able to be applied in my role every day - I was literally in the classroom one day learning something and then applying it the next!

I really recommend this course for someone who loves working with people and has a passion for business as well. It’s a great opportunity to use both of those skills in a great capacity.
