DR JACOB COETZEE: QUT used to offer masters programs in project management, engineering management, and only one masters degree in a technical field. We are pleased to offer five new options: one in electrical engineering, one in mechanical engineering, transport engineering, sustainable energy, and the fifth option where students are able to design their own study plan and therefore diversify their education across different technical fields.

What's really great about all of these options is that they've been specifically designed to meet industry needs. And we therefore offer a unique mix of coursework, professional engagement and also the opportunity to do research or also to work on industry related projects.

The professional engagement comes from the fact that a lot of our lecturers at QUT are real-world professionals, and also from the fact that we have lots of guest lecturers who have come from industry and share their unique experiences with our graduates, and therefore they get a good exposure to real-world engineering problem solving.

So in addition to the professional engagement, we also have peer engagement, where students actually learn from each other in that they have to interact during some of the units that they complete, and therefore gain from the professional experience from other students who've come from different parts of the world to complete their masters here at QUT.

So what makes our new masters courses great? Well, QUT is the university for the real world; we've therefore designed our new masters courses to address the needs of the engineering industry. It will therefore give you an edge when you apply for a job in future. We will equip you with the skills and knowledge to make a real difference in solving real-world problems.
