My names Andrew Heathcock and I’m a QUT graduate in Pharmacy.

Pharmacy's a lot more than just dispensing medication and knowing your tablets. Where our expertise really comes to the fore is when we're dealing with customers and explaining how to best use their medications.

Pharmacy course was conducted at the Gardens Point Campus in Brisbane. I studied both all the theoretical aspects of pharmacy, including drug knowledge and chemical composition of drugs, as well as how to use them and best use them for my patients. As well as they gave me a very good grounding in management and business principles.

The people I studied with are now all working in either community or hospital pharmacy, they all got jobs out of their degree and they all have excellent prospects for work next year as well as a fully registered pharmacist.

QUT throughout my degree placed me in different pharmacy environments, whether it would be hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy, so that I got a very good grounding in all aspects of pharmacy.

If you've got a good science background at school and you enjoy a chemistry as well as working with people and you like that varied sort of work environment, then pharmacy's excellent as you do get a very diverse range of roles throughout the day, every day you work in pharmacy.
