CORINA HIBBERD: Hi I'm Corina and I'm a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning at QUT.

I chose to study town planning after looking at it in geography in high school and thought it would be a really cool industry to be involved in while it's growing, and it looks after the environment which I am really passionate about. I chose to study at QUT because it was recommended to me as one of the best courses and it's right in the middle of the city which I love.

One of the highlights of my degree was travelling abroad to Taipei with QUT where I made the best friends and got to see how they planned their cities.

As a part of my degree I was able to complete work experience at private and public companies including Brisbane City Council and Queensland Fire and Rescue where I gained really valuable experience.

A really great thing about my degree is it's really flexible, and as part of the course I completed two minors, one an applications minor and one in spatial science, where I learnt GIS mapping skills which helps me in the job I have now.

I now work as a graduate planner at the Rockhampton Regional Council where I conduct community consultations and write development applications where I'm working to improve the region with other town planners.

If you're interested in urban growth and design, sustainable development, and protecting the environment this is definitely the degree for you.
