Come with some friends so you can kind of help each other and have someone to talk to, so it's not just you with all this full on information. You can go and talk to someone about it afterwards. You can't just - well you could just go on your own and learn all the information and have it all in your head. But it's nicer if you're with a friend so you can say, do you think this is what's right for me, do you think this is something I'd enjoy doing?

You get online early and check, because a lot of the times the good things start at 10am or something and you don't want to get here an hour after and find out that you missed your favourite thing for the day. So definitely just plan ahead and make sure you get in everything you want to see because there's a lot on.

The highlight of my day was probably the tours that they had, because that was where I met most of the people. You get to talk to the people who are pretty much doing similar things or are thinking about doing what you're doing. And then that way you can make friends, so when you get into university, I guess you get to be like 'Oh hey, i met you at open day'

Talking to the students, talking to people that were actually studying the things that I was interested in, or the things that i thought i was interested in. 'Cause, sometimes talking to them made me even more excited and sometimes talking to them made me think, oh, I don't actually want to do that. So that was probably the best thing, actually talking to students and talking lecturers as well.

The freebies were probably - were probably the highlight I guess. Because there were quite a few freebies, you get free pens and stuff so that was pretty awesome.

I used the online orientation program to build my own orientation day program to get in, squeeze in all of the different activities that I wanted to have a look at during the day.

Probably for me the biggest difference was just the atmosphere. You have a lot more time to do whatever you want and like classes and stuff, if you were late you didn't get into trouble, you didn't get detention. That was probably the biggest thing for me.

I guess maybe the flexibility. Hearing some of the students were only on campus a few hours or six hours a week. And coming straight from school I thought, oh my gosh, I thought uni would be so much more difficult than high school you know. Full on hours, walking into the nights, and sometimes it is like that being a student now it can be pretty full on. But the flexibility is really exciting because you don't just have to study. You can study, you can be in a social group, you can join a guild club, you can still go to band and kayaking on the weekends. You have time to do what you want to do. So that was the most surprising thing, that you actually had a lot more time at university.

I think everyone should attend Open Day. Even if you're not even sure you want to attend university or not, it's great to keep your options open and just to check it out. You'll find things that you hadn't even thought existed before, going round to Open Day. So I think it's a fantastic opportunity.

For me and my friends, we didn't know where Kelvin Grove was, but we knew where the Gardens Point campus was. So we went there 'cause we were told there would be a bus and it took us over and it only took around ten minutes. So that was pretty cool, because it was free as well.

Definitely just speaking to the staff and students yourself. Asking your own questions, which is something that you can't do online. Just getting them to elaborate if you don't quite understand something. Finding out what students' timetables are like or what they do in their spare time. It was just many questions that you can ask in person face to face, but you can't really get from just reading books or looking up online.

The personal connection, actually talking to students one on one and seeing the expressions on their face and the light in their eyes. Just the enthusiasm for what they're studying, you wouldn't get that online. Even now you won't get that from listening to me on a video. You need to be there and see them and just get the sense of what it is to be at uni and what it is to be at Kelvin Grove QUT, 'cause it's just a vibe you can't experience anywhere else.
