PROFESSOR KERRY CARRINGTON: I'm Professor Kerry Carrington, and I'm the Head of School for Justice in the Faculty of Law at QUT.
If you've just come from the justice profession, and you might be working in that field, a good entry point is a Graduate Certificate in Criminology, and you do one year, you can do all your subjects online, and that then gives you a pathway into tertiary education, but you have to have a background, and you have to have accreditation, but it's basically one year online, but you do real world learning, you do a lot of risk management, you do a lot of stuff around security and intelligence.
Well the Graduate Certificate in Criminology would really work well for people who already have an established career in the Justice sector, they might be a police officer, a corrective services officer, they might be from the military, they might be from law enforcement, they could be from intelligence, but they're looking for a credential and they're looking for promotions, so that’s the kind of area that they'll go into.
Now depending on their background they could also enter into a Masters of Justice, and they could do either a Masters of Justice in Criminology or a Masters of Justice in Intelligence, and once again these are really targeted at people who are fairly high up in their profession, but they might want to move higher up the tree into their profession.
Now we offer those options fully online, completely flexible, using real world learning technologies, innovative techniques.
They're very attractive to students and they have really good graduate outcomes, excellent graduate outcomes in fact.
