The railways masters course at QUT is for students that are looking to develop their professional careers in the railways industry. The railway masters course is the only web based railway course provided for civil engineers in the world.

We have 60 students from about five or six countries studying the course. The students are from Canada, Malaysia, Taiwan, Sweden, and also from the railway operating companies here in Australia. We prefer the students are sponsored by their companies, so we look for the students to be sponsored and working actively in the railway sector.

It is designed and developed by tutors and railway experts from all over the world, so that the students can study in case studies from all over the world and further expand their railway expertise.

Whilst there are eight units in the masters course, students don’t have to do the whole eight units.  They can pick individual topics and subjects to study as professional development, and they can either do four subjects to get a certificate, or eight subjects to do the full masters course.

My favourite aspect of the course is the professional development that you see in students as they develop from year one to year four, and the long term friendships and networking relationships that they develop over that time.

The feedback from the students themselves is the technical content, and also the networking that they develop over that period of time, and how that can apply that technical content on their day to day working careers.

If you’re a railway engineering looking to further progress your career, this is the course for you.  You don’t have to do face-to-face courses and come to classes. You can do it online, you can do it in your own time, and it is a great course where you will get extra expertise from professionals in a whole range of the eight subjects.
