JULIE-ANNE MEE: The accountancy work placement program is an opportunity for students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, majoring in accountancy.

STUDENT 1: Being an elective where you actually got to go out and be part of the actual firms and get some real experience.

STUDENT 2: I was really interested in having experience within an accounting firm. Doing my professional accounting degree, I really wanted to be 100% sure that's where I wanted to go.

JULIE-ANNE MEE: It's a practical opportunity to gain industry experience in the real world.

STUDENT 1: It's nice to start getting the career on the role and being part of a place where you could possibly see yourself in the future and developing.

STUDENT 2: It gave me a definitive answer that I really did want to work within an accounting firm. It really helped realise that that was my goal, and I wanted to pursue that when I finished my degree.

JULIE-ANNE MEE: The unit's offered in both semesters and you do the placement in the holidays prior.

STUDENT 2: It was just fantastic, it really complemented the study that I was doing. The placement during the gap, and then there was a couple of assessment pieces during the semester. But I was able to do that workload quite easily with my other units.

JULIE-ANNE MEE: This unit allows you to space out your workload and your assessment is finished about week 5.

STUDENT 1: I'd recommend the QUT accountancy work placement program for anyone that was interested in getting a subject's worth of credit, and getting some real experience out there and learning what accountancy is all about.

JULIE-ANNE MEE: The accountancy work placement program allows you opportunities to start or expand your professional network in our local arena.

STUDENT 2: You're there to learn, and they understand that and they help you. I learnt time management, I learnt working within teams in a real environment.

STUDENT 1: I realised it opened up some doors that I can possibly already closed in my own mind, and it gave me a great opportunity to see things differently.
