Rationale
Australia is situated in the fastest growing region in the world - the Pan-Pacific rim. This unit exists to inform future business professionals about business environments within countries of this region.
Aims
The aim of this unit is to meet the needs of future business professionals working internationally and particularly within the Pan-Pacific region, to understand the nature of this region's business environment.
Objectives
Course Learning Goals (Undergraduate)
The Faculty of Business has established the Assurance of Learning (AOL) Goals to meet contemporary industry needs and standards. Unit Objectives
On completion of this unit you should be able to:
1. Identify country-specific and regional challenges to the conduct of business across the Pan-Pacific rim
2. Analyse and compare legislative systems, regulatory processes, corporate governance and business practices among members economies of the Pan-Pacific rim
3. Explain and apply a range of theoretical and practical perspectives of country and industry-based approaches to planning for economic sustainability, regional cooperation and enhancing the capability and capacity to support viable trading relationships
4. Demonstrate skills in professional report writing and presentation

Approaches to Teaching and Learning
The teaching and learning strategies applied in this unit are intended to maximise your involvement and engagement with the concepts that are being presented and to provide space for you to develop your thinking and skills in a supportive environment. The unit is designed to promote and assess your understanding of the concepts. Lectures will provide an introduction to theoretical concepts and this will be supported by tutorial activities and selected readings. Tutorials are designed to provide an interactive learning environment that focuses on the development of communication and analytical skills through planned learning activities, simulations and discussions.
Assessment
The assessment in this unit aims to support the achievement of the learning objectives for both Discipline Knowledge and Other Graduate Capabilities for Assurance of Learning (AOL) Goals. Assessment has been designed in order to allow you to receive feedback on learning as you progress toward the development of knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes (formative assessment); and demonstrate learning in order to achieve a final grade (summative assessment).Students will be provided with oral feedback on their performance in the unit through informal consultation with the lecturing and tutorial staff and in written form through the criterion referenced assessment system used in the unit.

Description:
The initial part of this assessment will entail students, in small groups, giving a presentation on a topic agreed with the Tutor. Assessment of the Group Presentation will require students to evaluate team members' contributions to the team performance and the marks will include self and peer assessment of group process.
